We are seeking an inspiring Sewing Production Supervisor to help lead our FabricWorks Enterprise. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the development of our textile production studio, which provides training and employment opportunities to local women who have faced long-term unemployment and multiple disadvantages.
Reports To: FabricWorks Enterprise Manager
Responsible for: FabricWorks production team
(DBS check is required as part of this role)
Freelance: £14 -17 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
This is a new freelance project post, but we aim through the success the
applicant will bring to this role to make this a PAYE position.
Terms of contract: This is an annual contract renewable subject to funding
(DBS check is required as part of this role)
Hours: 19.5 hours p/week across 3 days with the potential to rise further.
9:30-4:00pm.
Days of the week will be subject to the successful applicants availability and our core studio hours / days.
Based: Stitches in Time, The Old Limehouse Town Hall, E14 7HA
Probation period: 3 months

What we need:
We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and team-oriented Sewing Production Supervisor to help support the operations of our FabricWorks Enterprise, a social enterprise dedicated to supporting women through meaningful employment and skills development whilst creating textile commissions for local designers and brands. Your role will be central to expanding our capacity, maintaining quality, and ensuring the success of our garment and textile commissions.
Key Responsibilities:

You will lead and supervise the production team, including women who have faced barriers to employment, helping to build their sewing skills, efficiency, and confidence. With a hands-on approach, you will work closely with them on garment and textile projects, providing guidance and training in industry-standard techniques.

Your advanced sewing skills and deep knowledge of garment and textile production, including premium and luxury finishing, will ensure that our team consistently produces high-quality homeware and women’s wear products. Your expertise in high-level finishing techniques will be critical in maintaining the standards our clients expect.

You will play a pivotal role in increasing our production capacity while maintaining quality control over every item produced. This includes overseeing workflow, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring timely delivery of products without compromising quality.

In collaboration with the FabricWorks Enterprise Manager and CEOs, you will create an environment of continuous learning. You will be responsible for mentoring the production team, fostering their professional growth, and aligning their development with broader industry skills and standards.

You will work closely with the General Manager and course tutors to ensure smooth coordination between training and production. Your ability to manage a diverse team with varying levels of experience is essential to driving our collective success.

Interviews will be held 23rd - 24th July at Limehouse Town Hall. If selected, you will be asked to bring examples of your work showing your construction skills.
